A CHILD

A child is a rare bird
Precious like a coral
You cannot buy a child from the market
Not with all the money in the world
The child you can buy is a slave
But even if you have twenty slaves
And thirty servants
Only a child can bring you joy
The buttocks of one’s child are not so flint
That they would tie the beads round another child’s hips
Ones child is ones child
It may have a watery head
Or a square head
Ones child is ones child
Only one’s child can bring one joy
