EXPERIENCE OF AN OLD WOMAN

An old woman

Her eyes have seen the rain come and go

They have seen sunrise and sunset

She has seen seasons followed by many others

Birth and death alternating

And that;

All these have taught her

The lots of women will never change

For she, Amina, Binta and Fatima

Independence has no meaning

Other than the one she knew all her life

She has indeed tasted the pains of beating

The pangs of birth and death’s blows

And that;

One lesson has she learnt

A woman’s joy is scolding her children

It lies in seeing their smiles and cries

Doing little things for them, the loved ones

A woman without a child is not a woman

But she has also learnt that;

To be kicked and humiliated follows this joy

When the children grow
